Default 1983 Mustang GT, Need Help!! No Power

I have a 1983 Mustang GT with a carbureted 5.0HO in it. It had been running, but I let it sit for acouple monthsand it won't start, the power doesn't even come on inside the car. I have changed the soleniod numerous times and aslo tried a different ignition. But when you turn the key on in the car nothing happens, no power, no lights, nothing. Also have put numerous good battery's in it from running cars. I havn't been able to figure it out, so I was hoping one of you more experienced guys know whats going on. Thanks.

i was having a similar problem with my 85 gt...you must absolutely make sure the battery is good...if it is, check all the cables going to the starter solenoid., and the cable going down to the starter, check the negative cable make sure it is grounded properly, i wish i had a decent engine bay pic so i could point stuff out...do you have a pic?

Yesterday I went and cleaned the gound wire and where it was grounded to. Cleaned the hot wire and where it connects to the solenoid. And cleaned all the connections on all the wires connecting to the solenoid. Still nothing, no power at all is coming on when the ignition is turned on.

see if you cant get a pic of your engine bay posted here...have you checked all of your fuses? had the car been stating normal and then just one day stopped, or had it been sitting for a while?

No, I havn't checked the fuses. Some guy said something about replacing fuseble links. But where it had the rubber things that said fuseble links, you cut them open and it is a solid wire, no fuse. So how can it be a fuseble link if it has no fuse? I will get some pictures for you later today. It had been starting, but battery died one day and let it sit for a while. After that it happend.

yea fusible links dont actually have a fuse in them, it is just a thinner strand of wire that acts like a fuse...so when you peel back the rubber, you are looking at the fusible link, you can also feel along the wires and see if they feel soft anywhere along the wire, and it could have been burned up...so unless you hooked up your battery backwards, or had some open wires that touched and shorted, you shouldnt have blown any fuses or anything..when you put the key in nothing happens right? no matter what position its in? if you have a booster box or some jumper cables try and jump the car, or at least see if anything comes on..where are you from?
