i have a t5 z rated tranny. i was adjusting the clutch cable over the weekend and noticed that the clutch fork has movement 2 different ways...looking up from the bottom of the car, the fork has movement both horizontal (pushes against pressure plate) and vertical movement?

Is that acceptable or could something being messing up?

only thing i'm feeling different is a 2nd gear grind only at high rpms or if i shift too quickly.

Vertical will always be there as the fork is secured on a ball socket, but it shouldn't be very much at all. If you can offset the fork enough so that its no longer centered, you got issues.

its centered just fine...just a slight vertical movement...

How much play? Give a measurement..

about an inch to inch an a half...its not loose...it does require a bit of pressure to move it vertical.
