i've poked around a found just a little info about the speedo. It's a 92 5.0 stock trans. I was told by the guy i bought i from it was changed from 3.55 to 3.73. When i'm going 45 my speedo shows 60 and 60 is showing more like 80-85, so it gets progressively worse. I've seen a little about the speedo drive gear and getting one with a different tooth count, but its still unclear .. what should i do here?

very easy! Just look under i think on the drivers side of your t5 and you will see the speed cable going into the t5 held on by a small bolt if i remember correctly. Unbolt it and just pull it out and you will see the stock gear. Just replace it and reverse process!!

Yup, pretty much that ^.

Just be sure you put the new gear in the same orientation as the old one comes off, so they mesh.
