Default Need help with tuning

This is my first post here, but I'm a long time browser.

Anyways, I have finished building a new motor for my 86' 5.0L notch and have it dropped in a running. I have only put 40 break-in miles on this engine, but have been fiddling with the idle, vacuum and timing. So far I have only been able to get the idle to 1000k any lower and the car dies instantly. The vacuum is registering at 10 in, but at a higher idle it will go up and brake pressure is fine. The timing has been hit and miss, but at 8 degrees it idles smooth, not erratic.

At this point, I'm not sure if this is the best I'm gonna get. Any advice or suggestions?

Here is a list of what I have built:

Ford 302, overbored 0.030
Stock crank - balenced
Scat rods , stock length with speed pro pistons 8cc reliefs
Holley SM2 intake with 70mm holley TB
AFR 185, 58cc w/ scorpion 1.6 rockers
FTI custom cam ( .570/.568, 112 LSA, 109 C/L, 4 deg. Advance)
Pro-mm 77mm matched with 24#
Aeromotive AFPR w/ SN95 rails
255 pump

My setup will end up being supercharged with a Paxton Novi 1000, 42# w/ matching MAF, and tuned with a FMS EPEC, once the engine is broken in.

i had the same problems after i rebuilt the top end on mine. I could always get it somewhat close but never good enough to wear i felt really good about it. I spent a couple hundred dollars getting tuned at the dyno and it made it a ton better. And your going to def want to get it tuned once you get the supercharger put on.

No it's not as good as its gonna get, I underestimated how much better a tuner can make these cars feel/drive. Finish it, then take it in for a dyno tune, you won't regret it. Oh and I demand pics of this 4eye notch!!
