Default What tranny do I have?

Hi,

I just bought a hurst shifter and the base plate it too small so it won't bolt in. I have a 90 LX 5.0 vert. Any clue which tranny I have or how to identify it? I'm hoping that hurst makes an adapter. I assumed I had a T5. I guess you know what happens when you assume.

It should be a t5 if it was original. Youll have to crawl under the car and find the service tag and get some numbers off it.

I always thought that late model lx's were BorgWarner t45's.

T5 and T45s take the same shifter though. Unless you have a 4 or 6 speed tranny it should be one of those unless someone spent the time to do a custom install.

I don't have a drivers side tag so I can't tell which trans I have. Also, I'm trying to identify if I have an 8.8 rear or 9. It has 10 bolts and looks like a cover. i'm thinking 8.8... any guesses??

If the rear diff has a cover in the back its an 8.8 or 7.5. The 9 " doesn't have a rear cover and the gears come out from the front.
