Default carb swap ignition

i did a complete swap, 4cyl to 302 carb.. just trying to decided on a ignition set up. im thinking bout going with a complete msd set up, 6a coil and distributor. wondering if you guys have any other set ups that would be alittle cheaper. i have a wiring harness in another car i could rig up but not really one for messing with a bunch of wires.. thanks

and anybody know the cheapest place for a complete msd set up for under $600.

If your looking for a good cheap ignition setup for a carb setup you could always go to the ford duraspark II setup. The dizzy is about $120 then the duraspark box is around $40 then you need the coil and balast resistor. The whole setup is probly less than $200 and is actually a very dependable system. I had a old 68 302 that I upgraded from points to duraspark and ran for awhile like that , then I swapped to a msd setup there was no notable difference in the performance of the engine what so ever.

Im sure others will have a different opinion on it but if I were to go back to carb for whatever reason I would go ford duraspark again.

What Dawson is posting about is what I used in my 59 Ranchero/390/C-6.
Good system for very little money.
In my Mustang that's also on a carb, I use the complete MSD system. Easy to install, really foolproof. Got me into the 10's real easy..........

Nope that's about as cheap as your gonna get it. Unless you go used. Actually that's not a bad price , I believe Mallory is a tad cheaper than msd.

here is a good deal on Mallory from ebay you just need to specify what gear you need on the dizzy , and you don't get the plug wires but for the savings you could easily afford to by the wires seperatly.

you a fan of mallory or just helping me out with a couple bucks? thats actually the same spot i was looking before, looking at the street fire set up. im sure any kit from $300 + would be great for me but im thinking long run when i do end up going with a bigger, more performance set up, it'll be good to already have top of the line. thanks
