Default AOD up and downshifting issues 88 5.0

When driving along in a neighborhood or any place where the speedlimit is 25 - 35 MPH the trans shifts up into the higher gears and just kind of lugs along. If you hit the gas aliitle it feels like you were trying to accelerate from 25 in 4th gear in a manual. You have to really give it gas to get it to down shift

When I bought the car the PO stated that it had 3.73 gears, which it does. could this be a shift kit or valve body doing this? I was not told about either one being in the vehicle. If I take it out and really open it up 2nd gear hits harder then a stock normally would, also if I dont really get on it it upshifts very quickly.

Any ideas???????

Check TV cable, might of came off, or out of adjustment. Did it just start doing this or has it always done it? Fix right away, will burn up tranny if left alone.

Its been like that. i will check it tomorrow first thing. I almost hope and dont' hope that's the issue. Then I have to go through the whole confusing TV adjustment deal, although it means a simple cheaper fix (I HOPE)!

OK, I adjusted the TV cable today as instructted above and moved it to the mid mark. It drove "better". It still lugs on OD though the neighborhood. Less hit in second gear.. I'm just lost here. I didnt let it warm up too much the other day and it wouldn't go up my slight incline of a drive way like it was slipping. That was a first.
