Default 90 GT - Fixing Doors / Leaking

OK so I have a 90 GT and the passengers side leaks like crazy, when it rains my floor is SOAKING WET, this needs fixed. When I bought the car, the door was very obviously OFF, my husband and brother bent the door a little to make it sit straighter, and that made it better, but definitely did not fix the problem. You can move the door very easily, it needs to sit up further and come in further at the top. Since no one I know that *can* work on my car is ever available I decided to swing by a body shop that is next to where I work just to see what their suggestion was on if it could be fixed properly.

His response was that the hinges are discontinued from Ford and he can't get them (duh) and since the hinges are welded on, they are a pain to work with anyway. He could take the door off and try bending the hinges & stuff to get the door to sit better, without replacing anything, and that would be like $300 range. I wasn't sure whether to take him seriously or laugh so I'm asking you guys.. the fox body professionals. I got on latemodelrestoration.com just to see what "I" could find, and they have door hinge repair kits and pins & bushings & springs pretty cheap (he never even mentioned replacing this stuff). I think it is probably safe to assume that mine are all pretty worn out. Please give me your opinion on fixing this issue! I don't really want to just keep manhandling the door to bend it and end up breaking something completely or making it worse somehow, and I certainly don't need to overpay anyone not to fix it properly. I was gonna swing by another shop and get a 2nd opinion, but other than the welding thing, why would this be such a difficult thing to fix?? THANKS!!

Door bushing rebuild kits are a good start. You probably need new weatherstripping around the doors as well.

Try loosening the bolt that the door latches on and move it back a little to get the door to close tighter until you get the hinges fixed.

So is there much of a difference between the "Exact Ford Reproduction" and the cheaper weather stripping for the door? Looking at $30 vs $50 on latemodelrestoration.com for a pair ~ wasn't sure what the difference was! Thanks!!
