I have an 89 Saleen and I am a notorious overtopper at the gas station. Wondering if the 89 Fox bodies had this evaporative cannister and if I have damaged it. Car runs fine except for intermittent check engine light. Now that I am aware of these cannisters next to the gas cap, I do not overfill on any car now. When they are damaged they throw a code from what I have heard on the Under the Hood podcast. Your thoughts.

Clearly you are guessing why the CEL is on. Don’t guess. Your just throwing darts in the dark and hoping for a bullseye. As rmodel65 said, find out the code that is causing the CEL and go from there.
