What are the square blocks on the outside of an 8.8 differential called, and what do they do? Im talking about the ones that sit directly behind the yoke

I think they maybe weights for the drive shaft??

I have searched for diagrams but nothing covers the outside

They are there to reduce vibration to meet factory standards. no real problems removing them

yeah its just a dampener...id leave it in place unless you are really trying to shave weight

Oh okay, Thanks guys. I sold the previous rear end with out removing them, and now the new rear end doesnt have them. Im still working on putting the rear end in, but I will plan on ordering them

i wouldnt rder any if you dont have them...id just drive around and see how it feels you definitely might not feel a need to have them..
