radiator Fans
hey guys
the guy who had my 5.0 before me, put some rinky dink 10" (guess) fan behind the radiator, and theres only that single fan.. no shrowd.. nothing.. PLUS the car has UDP's..
soo... in turn.. car keeps running hot..
looking for suggestions or what you guys used for fans. Someone told me get one from a chrys 300.. i dunno.. just want it stay cool!

I ended up with a good bit more than $30 in mine.. After all the bodywork, within the first 100 miles of driving the fan motor died... $90 later it was up and running again! I'm fairly certain I would have saved money with the black magic in the long run, especially considering the cost of the variable speed fan controller, circuit breaker, and the mandatory 3G alternator upgrade. My Mark 8 fan pulls 40A with the soft start controller! The Black Magic pulls 18A.
My goal was to get the best cooling I could buy without going REALLY nuts, so I went with what I thought was the best, not the cheapest.. :/ I think I've got right about $600, plus lots of time, in the entire setup (including radiator), without the 3G swap.
Food for thought.

I have the flex-a-lite S blade and flex-a-lite controller that ramps up based on cooling needs. It also comes on with a much lower spike in AMP draw.
I also have a 2core aluminum rad, 180stat, Edelbrock WP, and underdrives.
So far its been fine and never come close to overheating. And I've pushed it pretty good a time or two. I am curious what a 95+ degree day and sitting dead still for more than 20 minutes would do.

Now you're going to make me think about it. My fan controller alone was over $100 (sounds like the same one wydopnthrtl has), a 50A auto-resetting circuit breaker was like $20. I think $70 for the junkyard fan (your costs will vary), $90 for the new motor, $300 for the fluidyne (I tried the Griffin listed for the Fox and it COMPLETELY did not fit in my car.. I think Summit may have had their part numbers messed up), and a bunch of wiring, bondo, hardware, and paint... Yep.. Right about $600...
Then... I just HAD to add a Thermocap!
edit: Back to the OP... If your car is stock-ish and you just want to drive it around without problems, the cheapest thing to do is to go back to a mechanical fan. My original mechanical fan was all cracked up around the hub (which I guess is a common failure) so I didn't trust it anymore. That and I have HP ambitions that the stock cooling system just wouldn't tolerate.

thanks guys.. just picked up a markIII fan.. done a little research on installs for these.. im thinking just run a 70amp relay, 70amp fuse, and on/off switch.. no controller or any of that s.it
just want it simple and cheap. anyone see any issues with doing it that way?
