I recently purchased a 95 gt that needs some TLC, so many posts are to come. But one of the main issues with the car is a very loud roar while driving. Not so much at lower speeds (0-10 Mph), but gets louder as I accelerate and only dicepates when going around curves and decreases in intensity with deceleration... I'm thinking it may be the tires but I'll list related specs... I just installed a new t5 tranny, has 4.10 gears, 17' Cobra R wheels (fats & skinnies) tires are fuzion ZRI 245/40r17 91w in front & 275 40r17 98w in the rear. The rear tires seem to be a bit small for the rim. My friend and I recently replaced the rear pinion seal and changed the diff fluid FYI. He's owned many mustangs mine is louder than any one than he's owned. It isn't drone as the exhaust is fairly quiet. I'm fairly new to mustangs so I have plenty to learn and any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

could be wheel bearings, or the carrier bearings . Check the differential fluid level .

What do you recommend filling it with? And is overfill an issue?

If its low I would probly pull the cover to remove the remaining old fluid. and check the bearings out. Usually once they start to howl they will need replaced. I always use 80w 90 , plus you will need to get a bottle of friction modifier for the clutch packs that make up the track loc posi.. You cant really over fill them because once the fluid reaches the fill hole it starts pouring back out and you know its full

overfilling is not an issue and if you were able to get it to fill higher all it would do is fill the axle tubes with gear oil as well....

Tires could be an issue but it wouldn't get quieter going around turns. Can you here it from the back or front more? wheel or axle bearing......

Does it get quieter turning both left and right, or just one of the two?

Both left and right. And the sound fills the car to where I can't tell. The sound Is similar to Grapplers, just deeper. I can put a video link of the sound while cruising (no accel or decel).

Not a good video but it's all I have at the moment. The diff fluid was changed when the seal was. About two weeks ago. Tires have even wear and there isn't any play when I had it jacked up and tried to shake the wheels back and forth. Should I lift the rear and "drive" it to see if I can pinpoint it?

A little bit of an update... I did a bit more driving and I'm pretty sure it's coming from the rear of the car. I wanna say the passenger side but not 100% sure. Also, when I give it a good jerk to the right it's quiet and starts again once I straighten up. Sorry for not being very specific... Still kinda getting used a mustang

You probly have a wheel bearing that's going out. My 95 did the same thing but it was more of a squeal than a howl ..... it would quit upon turning or braking. Have to pull the axle out to change the bearing , so youll need to pull the diff, cover any how remove the axle retainer and slide the whole axle out of the tube.
