Default Fan Clutch

So.... .I have a stock 88 5.0 and I need a new fan clutch for it but I don't know what kind of clutch I need. Summit talks about medium thermals and heavy duty and I don't know what kind to get for a stock motor.

You may want to consider going with an electric fan too... I did, and am glad I went that route. Got a few more ponies, and my Stang runs nice and cool.

I'll slightly contest that... With air silencer deleted, short tube headers, no cats, LOUD mufflers, SN-95 MAF housing, all AIR pump/EGR deleted, and an E-Fan, my car made 197 RWHP...

Not exactly setting the world on fire over here... I doubt the E-fan was to account for ALL 10 or so HP my car is making over stock.

Well it's too late for that E fan. I just got my fan clutch from summit. I do try to keep it stock.

Well, sounds like you're on the road to recovery, which is good.

That said.. STOCK SUCKS!

We're living in a world with 667hp FACTORY cars with warranty... No shame in upping your game...

Yeah, the E fan upgrade only frees up a couple ponies by getting rid of that parasitic drag... Take what we can get, though, right!

and I'll contest the above.....unless you have a before dyno run with no mods done, it's hard to say how much any of the above did for the car.......when I'd remove my mech fan at the track, everytime without fail I'd pick up a tenth to 2 tenths max, and I did various runs with it on vs without to verifiy it. and no my fan wasn't locked up
