1986 5.0 with electrical problems
My battery will not charge. I have had the alternator checked. the alternator is putting out 100 amps. the car just died on me in the middle of the street. I was told there was a problem with a fuseable link can anyone help me figure out how to fix this.

Too much amps. Regulator probably died, which blew out the fuseable links on the wires. On the back of the alt there is 2 solid black/yellow wires right next to each other, thicker than the others. Those are the ones with a fuseable link on it.

And there we have it!
Personally, I'd upgrade the fusible link to a regular fuse in preparation for the 3G swap you should be thinking about...
I like the fuse holder found under the battery tray on S-10s for that purpose. Cheap, easy to find, and looks factory (because it is) if installed cleanly.
