Default Weird Electrical Problem

Hey guys long time no post. I guess that's a good thing right! :-p. Welp anywho, I've got an electrical problem on my hands. It's on a 1987 GT 5spd convertible... I went to start it, key in door open the door chimes like normal, turn key to start and nothing! Now I don't even have the door chime, no door open light or anything. Battery is charged (even tried a different battery). Went under the hood (left door open to hear if started chiming again) I didn't disconnect or reconnect anything and all of sudden started chiming again. Tried again to start and same thing happened! Have no idea what's going on! If someone has an idea or 2 that'd be awesome!! Thanks in advance ~Q

Loose or badly corroded terminal somewhere, whether its the battery, the starter solenoid, or the ground strap on the block.

If your still having problems might just need to replace your power/grnd wire. I'd try new connectors first though! Sense they are a bit cheaper

Lol that's cool :-p. So I went out to look at cables and I noticed on my starter solenoid that there's several wires going to the positive side. Theres a blue, yellow, green, & and a black/white striped. My question on those wires is what are those for and do I need them???

Yes, they're the power feeds for various other things like the fuel pump and ECU.

Ahh I see... Is there any way to upgrade the wiring to where I don't have all those connectors on that terminal on the solenoid? On a side note... I bought new battery cables (positive & negative), wire brushed at the block where negative bolts & it started right up! Thanks guys! :-D

Those wires have to connect someplace... You could remotely mount another stud somewhere, but it seems self defeating to just move the mess downstream.

Does your car have the solenoid cover? With the cover on you'll never even know its there. I'm one of the few guys that likes the stock cover from the pictures I've seen.
