I have Edelbrock heads on my 93 LX i am using edelbrock head gaskets.On the gaskets it has front printed on one end.Now in order to keep the fire ring(The metal part of the gasket that go's around the cylinder)the same on both sides front would be in the back does this matter or not.One side of the gasket the ring is flat on the other its open in the center.

you don't worry about that. place the gasket on the block with the labeling "front" as indicated, one side will be facing down at the front labeled "front" any other way than this is wrong....meaning the way you intend to do it = wrong!!

If you do it the way you're talking, the water jacket holes in the gasket won't line up. You'll run into an overheating issue pretty quick
