transmission heat!?
I went to change my oil pan gasket thought it was leaking but after having done so i am now thinking that its the transmission...Inside the car i am getting a great deal of heat by the center counsel around the e-brake and the cigarette tray...i just bought the car going through and doing things rite...there is no dipstick to check the trans fluid...is the high heat normal ?? the leak is slow but it is dripping down the clutch plate casing on the oil pan side toward the starter obviously its hard to tell up there if it was leaking but there was oil on the low oil sensor and just leaking in general at the pan...no more leaks from the pan but still leaking somewhere and i have a terrible feeling the previous rear of a horse put motor oil instead of tranny fluid...its not brown or red in color at all it looks like oil...help

The seal sits on the end of the crank, like Dawson stated all of that needs to come out. Check to make sure your PCV system isnt clogged up. That valve is often clogged, and the crankcase pressure must escape sonewhere, usually through the rear seal
