i just picked up my mustang and trying to figure out how to tension the darn belt. there is a huge bracket from my alternator to the opposite side of the engine but no tensioner. any ideas? is this normal? HELP!

lol get a picture of it up man so we can see how its set up.

There should be a tensioner either right beside the alt, or under it.

That bracket you speak of is probably the tensioner itself. Is it hex shaped? If so, that's it.

Doesn't look like you have a tensioner. Is that bracket even adjustable? Doesn't look like it. It's definitely not normal and looks like a "custom" job.

This is not the correct way to run this.
What they did was take the upper bolt out of the alt, to allow for a smaller belt. Once they put the belt on they basically use a pry bar or something to push the alt back into place putting tension on the belt . Will work for a very short while till the belt starts to stretch.

You don't need a pulley for the A/C delete. The delete kit I have(I think I got it from late model resto) uses the same brackets(alum one that bolts to head and steel one that bolts to water pump) as a stock 5.0 without A/C. They move the power steering pump up to where the A/C used to be.

This is what you have correct? Both perfectly acceptable and correct way of doing it. Either way you go you need a tensionor
