Smog pump delete kit

This is correct. 86-93 get the EGR exhaust from the lower intake crossover. The smog pump pumps to either the crossover tube in the back of the heads or to H-Pipe before the second set of cats. These are two totally different systems.
For a 86-93, a 77" belt will bypass the smog pump and still run the PS and A/C.
If you are going to keep the factory H-pipe and remove the rest, I would cut the air pipe about 4" back from the connection at the bottom, then smash it flat and braze it shut to keep exhaust from leaking out. If your one way valve is good on the head crossover in the back of the engine, you can just remove the hose and leave the rest and it will not leak exhaust there either. Then you can remove the pump and hoses from the car and plug the two vacuum lines going to the diverter valves.
If you are going to leave the factory H-pipe on the car, I would leave the smog pump too. It only takes a couple of horsepower to turn it at most and you really won't gain anything except easier access to the passenger side sparkplugs.
I removed mine because I run no cats (or a custom H-pipe with 2 high flow converters)
and ran a set of iron GT-40 heads for awhile that had no smog pump holes in the heads.
Now I run TrickFlow aluminum heads with the ports blocked off.

The stock air intake is actually considered a true cai, because it pulls air from the out side through the fender.
A good high flow filter is all that's needed unless you are looking for another shiny under the hood.

Of course, I recommend a UPR smog delete kit if you buy one, because UPR rules.
Anyway, to plug off the EGR ports in the back of the head, they make this inserts you can thread into the holes if you have the heads off the car. If not, you can just buy short 5/8" coarse thread bolts and plug the holes that way. They won't leak. (I think they're 5/8-16?, and about an inch long...)
