Intermitant tranny won't go into drive.
On my 95 GT, everyonce in a while it will not go into DRIVE. I can shift into neutral and tap the gas a couple of time and shift it back into drive an usually it will go into drive then O/D. Fluid level is good but smells burnt and really dark. I have heard people say that if you change the fluid in a worn out tranny it will make it quit working all together.
I completly understand the possibilities of getting a used Tranny but at this time I dont have the money to get a rebuilt one. (Used it to by the car LOL!!)
Is ther any other things I should check before I start throwing money at it?

Drain the fluid change the trans filter . Filter is inside the pan. They get plugged and don't allow sufficient fluid flow.
Costs about 30 bucks for the filter fluid and gaket. If that don't solve it then the trans probly needs to be taken in to be rebuilt or a new one installed , used or new your choice , as long as you know the risks of used transmissions.

Well today is got worse, taking off from a stop it would about a foot then slip out of gear. I called the lot where I bought it and they wanted me to bring it to them so thier mechanic could look at it. well they found a used tranny with 70K miles and are going to replace it for me so problem solved.
