Default drive shaft lenth

Ok, I have a 92 convertible, factory 4 cyl. auto. put v-8 5 speed in it, changed the 7.5 rear end for a 8.8. the drive shaft would not fit, of coarse. I got a shaft that was in a v-8 5 speed car, not a convertible, too long, will go in but has no play, fits tight against trans. Is a v-8 5 speed convertible shaft different than coupe or hatch? what is measurements on them?

I thought the driveshafts were all the same, except for the 4 cylinder auto cars, and then the only difference was the yoke. You do need some play.

Do you know what the trans mission came out of? Possibly a 94-95 the bell housing is different. The sn95 cars used a longer input shaft and deeper bell housing.

I don't think they are much more than about an inch longer but that would account for some play .
