oil is fine no smoke and did a block test

took the car out today around the negborhood to see how it would over heat car got to about half way up on gage left it at idle and then went alittle higher put on ac at idle it went up to 3/4 of the way put heat on went down to half way again turned off ac and heat raised up half way between 3/4 and half on gage stayed their for a while car did not over heat or boil over I have no clue whats going on with this car making me crazy

Sounds like a bad sending unit or there is an air pocket in the cooling system and coolant isn't always hitting the sending unit.
