Default Major issue

94 Gt 96k. I'm pretty sure it's a rod/bearing. First problem I noticed this morning on warm up for work was a strong tick. It was also ow on oil and I change it every 3k with Mobil 1 5w30. Tonight I then noticed when I came to a stop the oil pressure gauge shoot down to L. When I give it gas the gauge shoots back up to the middle where it should be. Could it be the oil pump? I'm thinking a rod/bearing. I haven't changed the oil to check for any shaving's yet but I really think that's where this is headed. I'm not sad though it's almost winter and I've got around $3,000 for upgrades so I may just look for a used stroker.

Did the ticking go away after it warmed up? There is a huge difference between ticking up top and knocking down below. Low oil ? how low? 1/2 qrt 1 qrt 2 qrts?

96k is pretty low milage for a bearing to spin with out significant lack of proper mait. Low oil = low oil pressure. Change the oil and put some 10w30 in it . Low oil will also cause lifters and upper valve train to tick . after changing the oil if your oil pressure still rides low at idle it could be time for a new pump.

As mention before how low on oil was you? 1/2, or your talking more then 1-2 gts? You mention ticking noise, where in the engine is it coming from? If it on top of the engine I would say it's more towards lifter noise which on cold starts are much louder, then it should quiet down once warmed up.

I'm going to try to change weight to 10w/30. The tick was in the am on warm up. It was down 2 qrt's so I added two quarts. I then drove it to work with no tick or maybe I just didn't hear it over the exhaust. I got home and went to town which is about a twenty minute ride. On the way back form town, I came to a stop light and heard it again. It was plenty warm. It was late so I didn't try to pin point location of the tick. I'd say it's more towards the top because I can here it really strong with the hood closed from the hole in my cowl. I hope it's just a lifter. Would a faulty lifter cause the oil pressure to act like that?

No a sticky lifter wouldn't cause you low oil pressure, that's from being 2 qrt's low. Now that you add 2 grt back into the system how is the oil pressure reading? If you still happen to have that ticking noise from the top of the engine, I would add a bottle of STP oil treatment, or Lucas oil stabilizer which helps sticky lifters.

Up date on the problem guys! Good news for me. It was actually some piece of a gasket (I'd say from the previous owner doing a valve cover gasket) had ended up in the oil pan and clogged my screen on the feeding tube. So I had the boys at my work take the pan out, put a new pump in and cleaned the screen. Fired it up, perfect oil pressure and no lifter tick. So yea no oil getting to the lifter was where my tick came from. Thank god! I just ordered 4:10's with gear install kit, 03-04 dished cobra's, ford racing clutch and flywheel, and firewall adjuster from American muscle. Should be here early next week. So pumped. Should wake it up little and I can't wait to see them dished Cobras on it. I went with just the 17x9's. I was going to get the 10.5's for the back but I like to be able to rotate my tires often and didn't want to deal with buying new tires. I just got Dunlop Sp01's at the end of last summer. I'll post some pictures up of it when I get them on next week. Thanks for the help guys!

I also got some new Cobra headlights and those are installed so no more foggy dull headlights on it like in my picture. What a damn pain to adjust them.
