Yes,so if your tach jumps with key on engine off,the coil pack is shorting internally, therefore to save you, the ecm or relay will turn off, and on and stall, as your driving, like hitting a brick wall, then back on again.

The ecm check engine light may not come on at all and will not give you a clue whats wrong. You will mistake this problem as an electrical short.

This is why newer computers have been made to diagnose ignition related failures. ie misfire on cylinder one, fuel injector cylinder one, high resistance coil number 2 etc etc etc, and our cars cant do this because the ecm is not an OBD2

Ok, just drove the car 40 miles wow!! what a difference in power, idle and drive ability now.

Starts up instantly, considering its very cold outside, idles smooth, power output way up and the tranny shifts smoother!

At this point I would recommend to any fox owner to change out the coil pack with a new unit, and a new stock distributor with new pickup installed.

This ignition coil is under $30 mounted on the driver inner fender. The distributor under$80 with new pickup inside already, use your existing ignition control module or replace it as well.

Now time to put back all the interior pieces thinking I had an electrical, or ecm malfunction, ignition problems sucks.

My next project is this sagging head liner, totally sucks and the foam behind it is dust foam now, blows around in the car and gets in my eyes!, so I plan to cut it out with a razor, scrub the particle board clean, spay glue new fabric on it and trim with razor, or just undercoat and paint the particle board gloss black to never have this problem again.
