Default Transmission replacement

I have a 1990 Mustang LX Convertibile 5.0 Auto. I need to replace or rebuild the transmission. How do I find out what model this transmission is?

Your Mustang has a AOD, 94-95 Mustangs had the AODE.

No they dont. Friend of mine got one of there trans lasted around 3 months some thing went bad he called them up and they told him to pound sand cuz he did not use there converter. it has been redone local and works fine still with the converter he had in it when Monster denied him.

Come on Mike a AOD build by the right hands is a good trans. the 4r70w is better by far but most of the well built AODs run the 4r70w internals anyway.
