I would like to know how much play the tail shaft should have in it and what other car can I get one out of if I need to replace mine not sure what one I have but I assume it is the original one.I changed the filter in mine and it seems to shift different, sometimes it takes longer to shift and others it shifts early I would like to put a t-5 but my back and legs will not allow that so I am gonna keep aod.Is there a way to know what type my aod is,what r some good aod's and can I get rebuild kit to put in it and where can I get kits

As far as I know any AOD will work. You shouldn't have problem finding a good used one, but depending on your budget, a rebuilt one has alot more piece of mind. When you said it shifts different after the filter change, do you mean a lazy shift with some slip, or after the shift it slips when in gear. Or very erratic shift points, like it has a shift kit?

Just another idea, make sure the TV cable is still attached to the throttle linkage. That cable determines shift points for the tranny. You'll smoke an AOD rather quick if that's not connected or adjusted right.

I am not sure about shift kit it has the original shifter inside of car.Itdoesnt slip it changes at different rpm sometimes around 3000 from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd shifts almost instantly then it takes awhile to 4th around 2700 to 3000 evertime.I believe my tv cable is dryrotten around trottlebody.i
It does shift hard evertime though.I am guessin I will end up rebuilding it after I get all the bugs worked out and start bolting on mods.not sure where to start with mods in future.I have got a lot of time on my hands to dream my budget is limited.Do you have any suggestions where to start on the motor.A rebuild will come in time, thanks for all suggestions
