Default running hot...

I have a 1990 Gt I've put a new crate motor in (long block & have under 50k miles to date) car runs great, however lately its running hot although my temp gage is where it should be & it does work.. I've been blowing radiators & heater cores and now my stock upper intake manifold is getting hot enough to be baking the paint right behind the egr spacer.. and again my temp gage reads where it should.. I'm at a loss as to what can be causing this. I've replaced the water pump, and my newest radiator is doing fine I just don't get why the intake manifold is getting so hot? I have bypassed the heater core. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Joe

Do you have coolant lines going to the EGR spacer. The fox mustangs have a coolant passage in the spacer to help cool it down .

I answered this in your other thread in the new member forum, but just to simplify, don't trust the stock gauges, get an accurate temperature before doing anything else.

Did you swap the thermostat? What are you using to cool the car? What other modifications have you done to the car?

if your intake is getting blistering hot....only one source to cause such if engine is at proper temp.........I'd check to see if the egr valve isn't hanging open allowing exhaust gases to enter intake.......had a 94 once that had a bad evr selonoid applying constant vac to the valve and boy after 2-3 min of run time I was suprised at how hot intake was, couldn't even touch it....then I realized what was happening.......so check for that

Check if your cats are glowing red in the dark at night and let us know.

That ground wire that was on the rear driver side head, that gave you a headache , its the 02 sensors ground.

Common issue.Make sure the fan is pumping all air, rev the engine up, if it is not your fan clutch is shot.
