Mustang dies while running no symptoms
#11
I'm assuming that the TFI tested good, then dig around on the forum for a step by step walk thru on a "no start". If I find it I'll post the link. It walks you thru on diagnosing your problem is. It helped me a couple times.

Just out of curiosity, when the car dies, feel your fuel pump relay. Let me know if its hot. It might not be nothing but my car happened to just die on the road at speed this week, only for a second or two, then start back up by itself and motor on like nothing happened. When I got home, I pulled my ECM and harness out of the kick panel while the car was running and it hiccuped again. So I thought lose wire but I couldn't get it to do it again no matter how hard I pulled on the wires, lol. But I did notice my fuel pump relay was very warm to the touch. I also was almost on empty so I filled the tank and the relay stayed much cooler. Maybe my fuel pump got hot, I don't know as I'm still tinkering, but just an idea.

You stated that you pulled the coil wire and got the spark going again? 1st check the engine ground. Don't just look at it , clean it. 2nd I had an engine that would run with a spark tester in line with the coil but not direct. The coil wire was bad. as had a poor ground also. Just a thought

Aftermarket
OEM if ya can, I was wondering who makes FRPP ignition box and coil.
I have an MSD on the 5.0 , That's the way it came TBH, I don't trust em.
Open it up and look at the components, JMHO.
Trying to find out if the FRPP unit is any better.
Im sure the Race teams get stuff ya cant buy.
Random Thoughts.
I have had a lot of issues over the years with aftermarket, Wires, HEI Modules
Crappy points and condensors. Ya Im that Old!
