89 Head light short
Hey everyone, I just bought my first mustang a couple weeks ago, and the driver head light keep burning out bulbs after about ten minutes. I am hoping its something I can fix? Do any of you know how to identify the short, and then what I need to do to fix it? I hate to admit it but I am kind of clueless on some of these things

are you sure its burning them out? Sometimes that connector that plugs into the headlight gets corroded and it will work for a couple mins then vibration will make it shut off. Generally shorts in the lighting system occur either at the connection or at the switch on the dash.

No I am not sure actually, that is just what the previous owner told me. So if its the connection where the plug goes into the head light do I need to just clean it off, or purchase a new one? And if its in the dash that intimidates me some because I am thinking that I have to put that all out to get to the connection? Like I said I hate to seem so dumb with this but I am at least open to learning!

A good way to tell if its the plug at the head light is when it goes out wiggle it around and see if you can make the light come on.
The dash switch is nothing major to get to you be able to slip a small blade in and pop the switch out to examine the plug in on it.
