Default More code issues.....Now a code 39.....

Replaced my BAP sensor per previous code reading. Check engine light still on. Went through the test, and its on again. Now, it started by throwing a code 11 meaning it passed, then a code 13, but then it threw a 39, which means 'AXOD converter bypass clutch not applying properly (CM)'.....

What does that mean? I am wondering if that is something I can even fix myself, or if I will need a shop too.....What is it? WHERE is it?

Oh, and no driveability issues either. Runs like a top. Airbag warning light comes on occassionaly, but doesn't stay on.

Aparently, I have issues that no one on here has any clue about. I have no idea what this code means.....I have tried to research it online, but have not come up with any answers. Seems like a potential tranny issue, but I am not sure, and again, the tranny runs great and doesn't leak.....So where do I go from here?

LOL, you do come here with some tough ones. And during the weekend when alot of guys aren't on here. I'm not going to be much help on this one either, but I do remember seeing a chart on here, or another website, that explained the codes and reasons and simple fixes for them. You may have to dig for it, and I'll try to remember where I saw it, but it was a year or so ago. Good luck.

Ok, DONE with this. Cannot find ANYTHING on 39, only what I posted above. I do not have a Ford service manual, and running into dead ends, doing a lot of silent swearing, so I am done. I just looked in a friends 95 Ford service manual, one that's HUGE, and can find nothing similar. So I am done. Not angry here, but apparently this is another one that no one is familiar with. So, I will drive it until it breaks. Guess that's all I can do. Hopefully it won't fry anything. But what the hell else can I do? Very frustrated.

For future poor people like me who get the code 39......

Well, called and talk to a tranny shop locally, a good one. The code 39 is basically a bypass clutch mechanism that's involved with the torque converter. So, its a tranny issue. He said likely a rebuild would eventually be needed. I plan on replacing the tranny filter, flushing the tranny, and seeing if that can get me more time. They said roughly $1400 for a new Ford T5, $1500 labor to do a T5 swap. I am torn, as it appears I may be a lot closer to a tranny issue than I thought or hoped to be as I am getting ready to sink $4000 in paint and hail repair on it, and cannot do my planned tranny swap yet. Not sure what I'll do....

Those prices are crazy, good call on swapping to the T5, but if you can turn a wrench, you can do the swap yourself. It's really not that bad. Installing the pedal assembly is the worst part but doable.

A local tranny shop near me sells a rebuilt T5 for $700, upgraded internals are a bit more.
