Default Long tube headers vs. oil dip stick...

Hey guys, I am having a problem with routing my oil dip stick and keeping it secured in my 302. I have OBX-R long tube headers, and when I installed them a year ago I was forced to keep the dipstick loose which was touching the clutch cable. Now I guess I bent it too much and it's leaking from the bottom and you can totally wiggle it 8 inches back and forth with your pinky finger. I ordered a new one, but I have doubts that this will work like it should. Any pictures or suggestions?

Also, do our cars have o-rings for the dip stick or do you just put it in and bolt it down to the headers!?

There is no O-ring. There is just a beveled end that mates to the hole in the block. When the new tube comes in it should have a section that will mount to one of your header bolts. Be careful taking the old tube out. It sounds like it's got a pretty good crack in it. You don't want to snap off a section of the old tube in the block!

I had issues with my obx long tubes and the oil dipstick tube on my 94 as well. The trick is you have to either bend it to a different angle to make it fit or like I did and get a flexible dipstick tube.

That's the exact one I have on my car. It's a whole lot easier to work with than the cheaper rigid tube type.

Id say it just as accurate as any other dipstick. They should all be using the same measurment from where they enter the block.
