Edelbrock E Street with Hydraulic Roller Cam??? help please.
 
I just recently acquired a set of Edelbrock E street heads for a decent price. I currently have a competition cam Pt# 35-304-8 cam. Edelbrock states that with these heads you can only use a flat tappet cam.

I've been reading...

The lift on the e heads can't exceed 0.550" of lift. My cams are max 0.533" lift on intake and exhaust. I know, thats pushing it... I've read of cams with 0.510" lift breaking valve springs.

BUT theoretically, this should work.... Theoretically..

I've also read that by replacing he valve springs with something like: http://www.jegs.com/i/K-Motion/571/K-750/10002/-1 will give me the ability to use my cams. Because these springs are good for .600" lift. I believe.

My question is, if i decide to go this route, do i need anything other than springs and valve seats???

I've had someone tell me I'd need new lifters, new push rods, as well as springs and seats.

I should add i haven't installed my cam yet. (been waiting to find a set of good heads for the right price.)

Any input is greatly appreciated.

The only way to be sure is to check piston to valve clearance. Those K motion springs you listed have a higher valve spring rate than you need for that cam, but that would not pose a problem.

I'm taking the easy way out, sending it back and getting the E205 heads.

over on the corral.net there is a whole thread dedicated to those who have tried to run roller cams with the e-street heads.......in short, don't do it!! there's more to it than just max lift........ramp rates on roller cams often differ greatly to that of flat tappet crap......which is why more seat pressures are needed, also depends on the lobe profile used
