Hey guys. What does this entail? And I am hoping that ford for cost sake wired all cars the same regardless of options. Can anyone please tell me if the cars that came with manual windows and locks were already prewired for power windows and locks?

It can certainly be done, but if your expecting to open the door panel and find existing wires and plugs for the lock solenoids and windows , that's not gonna happen. You will find a place in the fuse panel for them to be added , but that's as far as ford is gonna go.

Most likely you will need to change doors and add a harness from the fuse block .

Damn. I thought I heard where there was a factory plug see here near the doors that a power window harness would be able to be plugged in.

There is a harness that runs behind the upper parts of the dash that houses the wires for the door locks and maybe the windows(cant remember on those) that a manual car probably wouldnt have. The dash harness itself might be the same. My 93 hatchback had wiring in it for a convertible top. Best thing to do is find an ETM and look up the wiring vs. your car. I bought an ETM off ebay years ago.

you'd also have to change door panels too due to the arm rests being different

Thanks guys. I did factor in that manual means less working parts to break. I just wanted to know my options.

Haha exactly right. So much less headaches. I'm removing perfectly good working power windows just to drop a few pounds of race weight.

wish the gts had manual stuff but alas it was order optioned. i have a man drivers seat lol

So you guys really prefer manual? Is it because it's one more part to break or because of weight savings?

I personally plan to go through the car too to bottom front to back over the next 10 years to make this thing new again. And for me, weight savings isn't an issue. I am not planning on racing it, I simply want a fun reliable fun car to be taken out on date nights, weekend cruising and to work on days the weather is nice.
