passenger side valve cover clearance issues?

passenger side valve cover clearance issues?
i *think* i remember when i took the stock passenger side valve cover off that there was a thinner gasket installed when compared to the driver side. as i am putting stuff back together, just as a test, i put the passenger side cover in place without a gasket and i saw there may be a problem with clearance near the alternator (i didnt force it because i didnt want to screw up the paint on the cover). i am also concerned there may be a clearance issue with the underside of the upper intake and the egr etc.
the gaskets i have are pretty thick cork, 3/16".
so, is there a known issue with the passenger side covers? is it solved by a thinner gasket, or do we put the cover on with just rtv or something?
thanks in advance for any input

I would think they would be the same. Look at getting something other than cork. I got some rubber ones with metal cores that are supposed to be close/better tan OEM from Fel-pro. You can get them at any parts store.

The gaskets should be the same. If you have clearance issues with the upper intake/throttle body, you can add an intake spacer to gain a little clearance. That is what I did when I installed TrickFlow heads, since they were taller than stock.
Don't know about alternator clearance. My alternator is mounted lower with the Vortech SC.

right, but this is why i was asking about needing a thinner gasket on the passenger side. looks like the lip of the cover might be hitting the alternator, but a thinner gasket may drop it enough to miss the alternator.

I had the same issue with the trick flow valve cover. Is it coming close to the mounting bolt or the actually altanator body? With my issue it was coming close to the mounting bolt so I used a button head bolt for added clearance on the altanator mount. Sometime you have to get creative. And if that means buying the thinest set of gaskets to use then so be it. But I obvisually wouldn't buy 2 sets of gaskets and have one side lower than the other if that's what your asking and unfortunately there isn't a huge difference between a cork fel pro $10 gasket(.188) versus an aramid fiber gasket that is.094 thick. I mean we're literally talking a thousandths of an inch .
