Default 95 5.0 trans going into gear issues

My 95 mustang is having issues going into all gears at a certain rpm range. Between 2500 and 3000. All other ranges it goes into gear fine. A little rough going in above 3000 but not bad below 2500 goes into gear fine. What could this be?

CHeck your clutch cable adjustment, sounds like you have to much slack in the cable and its not disengaging fully

One more thing is if its grinding or kicking back out of gear then you need a trans rebuild. Either the synchros are bad, or the slider is to beat up and starting to cause what is know as a block out.

Thanks. Do you know of a good way to chip the car? I have a bbk cold air intake bbk shorty headers no cats straight piped exhaust. Msd wires cap and rotor. When pushing in the clutch to shift the car tends to rev up just a bit then it revs down. What could that be I my thought is it needs a chip or tune. I have already timed it to ten degress above top dead center

You don't need a chip, they all rev up a little when you press the clutch. Its supposed to rev match the next gear. Pretty normal. You don't have any major mods that would need it.

As far as the grinding going into 4th, that is a synchro problem, and it will only get worse, and grinding leads to broken shift forks and destroys the slider.

It may be time to look into a rebuild or a used/or new transmission.

K thanks. So after I get the tranny rebuilt what should the next step performance wise be? Cam heads and bigger throttle body was my thought. And I do want to chip it. Any idea on the best parts orsteps and ways to do it?
