Default IAC question

Mine is giving me trouble with how my car runs when it's in any gear other than park or neutral is there something I can do to clean it or do I have to replace it

Yes you can pull and clean them, and might as well clean the MAF sensor element with electrical contact cleaner.

its got the surge

tried cleaning it and its still having the surging where its dying off I'm not planning any motor swaping unless it's bigger than a 302

There are a ton of threads on "surging idle" in this forum. Do a search and you'll be reading for days. It is curable lol. Good luck

if your engine is surging, your IAC is doing what it's supposed to. Try searching for vac leaks, and verify that your O2 sensors and ECT sensors/sending units are functioning correctly.

found that it's the egr valve making it surge so I'm getting a new one courtesy of my uncle and his buddy with getting parts discount

If I get it fixed and don't sell my 302 I'm planning to build over winter then yes I'm going to keep it and probably just go with a kenne-bell supercharger or a turbo setup or maybe just build it a bit cause stock isn't enough fun for me

I have the hose disconnected from the fuel pressure regulator to the egr and it runs so smooth but my only issue is when I slow down and take off it has a surge otherwise the motor is fixed
