Default Pulling codes and code reference

Hey guys when you all talk about pulling codes, are you referring to going to your local auto parts store and having them do it? Or how are you.
Secondly, does anyone know or have a code reference sheet or database for these codes. You all seem to have a lot of knowledge that I am hoping rubs off on me.

Thanks,

Andrew

Do a search on this forum, there are step by step write ups on how to do it. Or Google or YouTube will get you what you need. A little digging and you'll find it. It's really simple and free. Good luck

As for the codes reference, I saw a thread here lately that explained them all. May have to dig for that one also. Unless someone here has a link ready to post.

See if this link works for you. It uses a test light instead of the CEL in the dash.

Thanks!

I do have issues with e brake light and air bag light. When I bought car, they both were having issues, air bag blinking and e brake wouldn't go off. And eventually they both went out and haven't come on since. Think it could be blown out? Or a fuse blown?

I doubt it's a fuse, but you can check. They would be on different circuits. Lift up your e-brake handle, it the light comes on, your good. If it stays on after you take the parking brake off, could just be a sticky switch that needs a little lovin.

I'm not familiar with the air bags, but as long as the light stays off, I'd say it fixed itself.

With the ebrake its not uncommon for someone to spill a soda down into where the switch is at . Probly just sticky.

As far as the air bag light goes , it ususally only flashes when its disconnected some place.

It did flash. Then it went out. And around the same time the emergency brake light went out too. And when I turn the key to accessory all the lights come on except the emergency brake and air bag light. Does this mean that the bulbs burnt out for those two, is it coincidental, or are they both on the same fuse?
Anyone know?

All the bulbs in your cluster get power from the cluster it self. The same fuse powers the entire cluster.

If you think the bulbs burnt out, then I suggest you pull the cluster and inspect the bulbs.

Are there bulbs for each idiot light? Just odd they would both go out at the same time.

I am betting there are bulbs for each light. I guess it would only make sense. But I am not certain.

Anyone know?
