Default Odometer myth?

So what is this I hear about the way to distinguish a high mileage car from a low is by the straightness of the digits on the odometer? I read a few areas that if the numbers are uneven, the odometer has rolled over the 100k mark and if they are straight it has not rolled. Is this true? Is there anyone who has proof of this? My 93 cobra shows 57,000 miles I was told it was 57,000 this was reflected from the seller, the title, and a carfax, however, my odometer is uneven....

They shouldn't get uneven by rolling past 100k miles, but they can get uneven if someone takes apart the odometer, and puts it back together again (to change the reading). What kind of maintenance records came with the car? What does the interior look like, especially the brake/clutch pedals and seats?

condition of the car will often reflect true mileage, most rides including yours if it had 157k, seats would be worn, pedals would be worn as well as carpet and general grime and grease in the engine bay......if your car looks relatively clean than it most likely is 57k

It is generally clean. It has lived quite a life. Being supercharged at one point. It was bought 2 owners ago as a roller. But the body is clean, straight and only minimal rust to hatch and under driver door. These are things I would honestly expect from a 21 year old car. I wish it was a garage queen, but it was more a car cover queen. At least it is going to be garage kept from here on out.

I wouldn't worry about the milage to much. Its not like its a collector car. You got plans for it? Race, restore, weekend cruiser?

Ehhh..…........... I'm not in the mood to defend the collectability of a 93 Cobra, but I'm sure blue didn't mean that lol.

Give the dash a whack, the #'s may even out.

I just mean if your buying a car for collecting most agree your better served to start with something older with a proven collector market. A Feiro is a rare car from the same era but I wouldn't recommend running out and buying one in the hopes that someday market value will explode. I say buy the Cobra and drive the hell out of it and don't worry about future values. Cars are made to be driven.

Don't think it matters much with that particular cobra any ways. That's the one that the PO chopped a hole in the strut tower then tried to monkey weld in a steel plate to cover it.

With that I'm no longer considering being a member of this forum. I'm disappointed in some of the inappropriate comments and have no business being here.

???

I'm confused, did you take someone's reply as disrespectful, untruthful. I'm pretty sure blue and dawson didn't mean it the way your taking this.

Picture it this way, reread this thread as if its just a couple guys hanging out in the garage with a beer in each hand. OK........ just one hand has a beer lol.
