Default is it possible

to swap in a 93-95 ford lightning 5.8 engine into my 95 gt without to much cutting and fab work and what would be the right transmission to use

I just had the crazy idea and want to know if it's possible without modifying the firewall and only minor work on the sub frame

I am sure it is possible, but I would bet it is more work than what most people want to do.

the only difference between the 2 engines is the deck height. It will drop right in. People swap in 351s all the time without much work. what you will definitely need is an intake manifold, and the proper mounts for the accessories.

Alright so it wouldn't be a bad idea to start looking for a 5.8 out of a truck even if it isn't the lightning motor I can build it all the same

One of the other reasons I'm asking is because I read that to fit the transmission I would have to make the tunnel taller and wider

From everything I have read you can use the Mustang tranny with the 351W. Check out the 351 Mustang sub-section for more info.

My transmission is junk (might have to find a 4r70w and add a shift kit)

yeah I know about the Cobra R but I've heard that swapping in a lightning 5.8 is harder because of something with the transmissions that fit to it being to big or something like that

The lightning used the e4od trans which is basically a c6 with od. So it is physically larger than an aod or 4r70.

351 is a 351.....it'll fit right in....now tranny may not....just have your aode rebuilt
