ECM inspection

Carbon canister is where i took the first vac reading, unplugged hose from engine side of that remote solenoid. One of the first things I did was pull tube from canister and cover with my thumb, no effect.
EGR off now, not clean, gasket seems to be gone. Soaking, getting gasket, and replacing soon.

EGR clean and replaced, a little better but not the culprit.
Some carb cleaner sprayed around the back of the intake manifold by the PCV valve made the engine rev up. PCV is rattling and properly reseated, everything back there "feels" OK, at least nothing's come loose leaving an exposed vac tube. I'm getting a mirror now, not sure what I'm looking for - cracked tube or nipple (which sounds ike a personal problem...)?

Carb cleaner sprayed anywhere (front , back, side) on the driver's side of the upper/lower intake manifold revs it up, now checking U/L bolts torque.
But it's likely the gasket between the 2 isn't it...

As mjr stated, a smoke machine would verify a leak there without a doubt. Instead of guessing, tearing down, to find out it was a cracked hose near there.
I know I've posted this a lot lately, and don't know if it's frowned upon, but there's a sticky over in the corral forum, under General Discussion on making your own smoke machine on the cheap. And with your mileage, I think it would serve you well. Good luck.

if you pull the upper plenuim to replace the gasket since you have no sure fire way to verify then inspect all hose conditions under it when off and any brittle ones replace.....also mark where they go as to get back in proper places

Awesome guys thanks. I'm going to try to throw together a smoke machine.
This might also explain why my rear (#'s 4&8) plugs keep getting carbon fouled while the others are OK or get yellow hazed.

check any and all hoses attached to intake for any splits or breaks, also inspect fuel pressure regulator hose and make sure it's not wet instide with fuel, install new plenuim gasket when going back together
