Yeah, perhaps I would just be better off doing some very light touch ups in the areas where it's not bad and I can cover up until I can do it right (like under the battery and such where there is the worst rust).

Have you seen that rust to black primer stuff that Rustoleum makes? I bought a can of that a few days ago, never tried it.

yup, used it before to.....seems to just paint the rust black...may work for surface rust but heavy type cankered and blistering rust spots it's useless

I would never rely on that stuff. I think it would be better to cut out as much as you can and use it as a "just in case it does work" thing for those rusty spots.
