Question 5.0 troubles at idle and when cold.

Hey guys i got an annoying problem with my mustang 1987 gt hatchback every morning when I get up to crank it( it's my daily) the car will start but die instantly. I will crank it again and apply some gas and the car will rev up and down, if I let off the gas it dies. So there I am on and off the gas pedal till the revs start becoming less and less, a minute or two later when I don't have to apply gas to it the car idles up and down until it controls itself and idles good at 750rpm ( can't trust the stock cluster) but that's what it shows. It will then drop once or twice again until it really really warms up. Once is nice and at temperature it will not do it again.
Also next symptom, when I drive it and put a little bit of gas it sputters and and shakes back and forth. I get off from that situation by applying more gas and flying out of it; or by getting off the throttle and pressing on the brake. So if I lighly press on the accelerator it always does it. It will not do this if I pound the accelerator pedal. So no issues if driving on the highway, horrible for street driving. I cannot stand it anymore! Help!

Clean the MAF
Inspect all your plugs and wires, cap/rotor replacer if worn
See if codes exist by running self diagnostics

Almost sounds like a carbureted motor without the choke working... just my thoughts. Good luck either way.

I would check for vacuum leaks and clean and test your IAC and EGR valve. Any codes? Also, have you made a upgrades or changes to your setup recently? Throttle body? TPS sensor? Distributor? EGR? Computer? Anything?
