I just got my second foxbody mustang a 1988 GT convertible and the driver seat is permanently reclining, does anyone know any tips to fix the seat so that it does not permanently recline. In order for me to drive the car I have to put another rim between the back and passenger seat so that it does not recline. I do not want to change the seat as the stock seat is in fairly good condition. Any tips or thoughts would be apprecated.

Take the cover off the latch mechinism and see what's broken. Could be a simple spring snapped or the latch itself broke. You may have to pull the seat out to get at the broken parts though.

may be stuck in the open position, meaning the latch, have you tried pushing the recline lever down to make sure it's seated properly, often due to crud build up and age/dry grease...if such not be the cause, there may be a broken spring/prawl, check the lever that catches on the teeth
