Thanks, but I already got one from Autozone of all places. Advance Auto Parts sells them for 229, but if you put the code "TRT30" you get 50 bucks off making it 179.99, so I just bought it new. Autozone price matches, and I've been burned too many times by Advance.

So another update. I purchased a new MSD TFI module to put in with the MSD distributor my buddy got for me (used). After about a minute of ideling after I installed it, the idle started to flicker (100-200) rpms, but it was not violent, just flickered. I thought maybe I was off by a tooth, so I took it out, reset the timing to TDC and made sure it was perfect. Started it up, ran perfect for 3 miles and started to flicker again. I put the old TFI back in and it ran perfect for 5-8 miles... then started to flicker. I found out that you need to put heatsink on the back of the TFI's, so I bought some Duralast heatsink and made the MSD TFI look like a birthday cake...seriously... put it back in drove it for 3 miles and started to act up (not as much flicker, but the idle was not stable). Each time the car cools, it starts and idles fine.

I put the stock distributor back in last night, and I need to test drive it today to make sure that's the issue, but WTF!? Apparently, people make TFI relocation kits for our cars? Why wouldn't MSD just correct this problem?

Either way, whether it's the stock distributor or the MSD in my car, my 6AL box will arrive today and I'm putting that best in ASAP. Any thoughts on this... I'm kind of dumfounded. I thought the TFI was the only real electrical component on the distributor.

Yeah really weird. Luckily, the guy will take it back (same guy who sells to motors). I'm taking the distributor back to him and just going to plug the 6AL in tonight and call it a day. When the stock distributor goes out, I'll try another MSD (but new) with a TFI relocation kit. That's crazy. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm really excited about the ignition box though.

So the verdict is in. The idle is rock solid stable now. Does not move at all. It does seem a little livelier and take offs are...easier? It seems like it takes off faster which I don't know if that's in my head or what? HP gain.......probably not. It does seem smoother. The air fuel meter still moves at idle, but slower. It does not bob between 14.5-15.2 nearly as fast as it use to. I say it's doing a good job and a nice upgrade. Besides the idle, it's not a night and day difference, but one you can notice. I have the rev limiter set to 5,900 so I will never red line my car which is nice to know. I just picked up the toggle switch to kill it when I feel uncomfortable leaving is somewhere which that alone makes it worth the purchase

But I've read that a new MSD will wear out before any stock stuff. Not as well made as the factory dizzy.

Just have this person grab a gift card, or a online shopping spree from Latemodel Restoration. That would be money well spent.
This is true. I run a stock distributor on my set up. I have the MSD 6AL-2 ignition box though.

Unless the stock one breaks, I'm sticking with it. I think I have all the spark I need now with the box and other stuff I have. I didn't notice any difference at all with the MSD distributor vs the stock one, and when I asked MSD about the difference with their distributor and TFI modules vs. the stock one they said there is not much difference at all.

Yet another update, I thought of a pretty baller idea... instead of using the toggle switch under the driver seat to kill the ignition/ignition box, I ordered a headlight switch and fog light pigtail from a GT (I have an LX 5.0). I am going to cut the wires from the toggle switch and solder them onto the fog light pigtail. That way when I park my car, I just flip the "fog light" switch to kill the ignition in case somebody tries to steal my ride! I just hope I don't accidentally flip the fog lights when I'm driving over the headlights! lol

I can just see some dirt bag getting in my car trying to hot wire it. After 10 seconds of the starter just turning and the car not starting he yells "F#@%ING FORDS!!!!!"
