Needing advice on building the 5.0

Before you ask this question, you first have to ask yourself, what is your budget. Your budget will best be able to tell if your horsepower goals are attainable. Keep in mind, you will also have to spend on chassis fixes such as torque boxes, and subframe connectors, and some suspension mods as well, to put power to the ground.

well, i don't know what ypur current hp is so i don't know what the "gain" would be over your current set up . . also, different dynos give different readings, but on most engine dynos, you can get 400 hp at the crank out of a carbureted or efi 347 with no power adders and still have it idle, kinda sota.
also, a 347 will have a shorter life span than a 302.

I have plans for a turbo setup and hoping to stay around $10K. I will be doing most of the work myself. As far as the 500hp it seems a lot more practical to reach with my budget. I'm using it for street/strip and it's not going to be my daily driver. But will get driven on the streets.

347's don't have any shorter life span than a 302. period (how any motor is used dictates life span)...........I have 2 customers with 100k on theirs, one uses it as a courier service in a 94gt, and both don't burn any oil.........do the machine work right and it'll last, going on 7 years with mine and had many bottles of no2 through it and doesn't burn a drop either.....pulled it apart 2 years ago to inspect it...and looked like the day it rolled off the assembly line......and to those who argue worse rod rationale.......many sbc's that have a far greater/worse rod rationale than a sbf 347 and have lived well past 100k, OP if you want 500 hp and for it to be relaible at that hp range do as reldl1996 states
