Default Won't run when cold

I have a 91 5.0 and it won't run on its own when it's cold. It starts but it idles itself down and dies almost immediately. What could be wrong?

Any codes? Do you still have the EGR valve and coolant lines hooked up to the TB by the way?

KOEO/KOER test for codes.

Clean or replace your Idle air control. Clean your MAF , and then perform a base idle relearn. I would just clean the above mentioned items and then go from there.

Where you located in Ohio? I could probly help ya out if your close.

Alright fellas I'm going to load you up with knowledge. I have a 302 bored 60 over, thumpr comp cam (.490 lift), 1:7 crane roller rockers, aluminum underdrive pulleys, heddman long the headers, flow master exhaust, 75mm TB with matching EGR spacer, BBK cold air intake with MAF, new radiator, with manual oil temp gauge and water temp gauge. Idk if any of that helps but you asked haha

So when your car eventually warms up to normal operating temps, it runs fine ? Just on cold starts it does this ?

The water temp just has to be about 100 degrees. It doesn't have to warm up completely.

So I'm going to assume that once it warms up, it runs great, nice steady idle and good drivability. I'm also going to assume that this problem just started happening, hence you joining this forum. Welcome by the way. I'd start by pulling codes, I'll bet you have a couple stored. Paper clip, pad of paper and pencil is all you need. Google how to do this, its faster then me explaining it here.

When your poking around under the hood, check each vacuum hose for splits/cracks. A vacuum leak causes a ton of idle, running problems on these cars. Good luck and post back with what you find.

Actually it's been happening since before I bought the car (a year ago) but I was rebuilding the engine and it was more of an inconvenience than anything else so it never got done. Anyways, the guy before me did something to it so that no sensor lights other than battery and low coolant light come on. I'm not sure what he did or if that will affect reading the codes..
