347 killing me
#12
Jason and MJR, I was wondering if i could step in and basically ask the same sort of question. We just purchased a 347 stroker motor (and a 67 mustang) and the guy said it had a 303 cam, I guess an E303 cam. All the reading I've done have the same negative comments about the cam. We are putting it in a 65' fastback and we want it right. We are fabricators, welders and restoration guys not motor and rebuilder guys. On the top of the cast iron head it said 351 and the letters WF along with a 2K5 and another letter T. It has a nice intake and a Holley 750 and roller rockers. What cam is recommended. I want to put in the right cam before we install in Mustang. Oh, it has all the MSD stuff as well. HELP

I got it all put together but as I thought it is running way to rich 42lbs injectors. My eyes burn so bad. Can I turn down the fuel pressure and how far is safe it is at 40-42 now. Do I need to bite the bullet and buy new injectors and what size .
thanks
Jason

does the car have cats?? eyes burn is not an accurate indicator.....koeo/koer test has ability to detect lean/rich conditions.......eec iv has the ability to adapt = adaptive fuel strategy to around 11-12 percent = car should be driven for 20-30 min to update tables........to many times I see threads with my car smells rich and it has no cats.......my s/c 89 smells the same way, however the wideband tells a different story.........have you got a wideband on it?? also set fuel pressure to factory spec which is 38-39 psi iirc with vac line removed...any more or less and the o2's will tell the ecm to trim or lengthen injector pulse in accordance with the adaptive fuel strategy needs.

42's will work fine...I run 42's on my 89 and it's only a 302 with a supercharger.....your problem lies in the fact you aren't running o2's thus putting the ecm into a FEM mode = failure effects management mode where it runs off a set of predetermined tables in the ecm............fix your sensor issue and make sure the 02 ground is hooked up once you resolve the deleted issue

after fixing o2's run a koer test and see what codes come up.........it's key that all sensors for the efi system be functioning and not throwing codes for the car to run decent......after that is taken care of then one can plan for a professional tune if needed, I never send a car out for a tune until all efi codes are gone.
