Cam dowl pin length
Hey guys, I am finally putting my car back together and I'm installing the Ford E303 cam that I bought with my heads. I noticed that the dowl pin that cam with the cam is shorter than the stock one. It probably sticks half way through the cam sprocket... is this ok? The stock camshaft was almost flush with the cam sprocket and hollow, this one is halfway through and solid.
I torqued it to 42 ft/lbs and it seem to spin, but I'm just not sure about this.

I purchased an "engine assembly kit" from latemodel. It came with an extra dowel pin. It was too long. It was for engnies with a mechanical fuel pump. It was almost flush, but it distorted the washer, so it was too long. I went with the short one because I have no other choice, and it was on another 302 just like mine, so I guess I should be fine? Ugh.
