Default SN95 GT to Cobra Intake

So I know these threads have been made many times but I'm having trouble finding one for sn95 as opposed to fox bodies. If I'm not incorrect the sn95 already has a larger maf and throttle body right? So swapping the stock intake to a cobra one should be slightly more effective? I already have xpipe flow master back end so I figured the intake would be the bottleneck and after that the heads? Will it make a noticeable difference and anyone with a similar set up have any times? I also have 3.55 gears, CAI, smog pump delete and mad ignition with timing at 14*. Thank you guys in advance.

The cobra intake is a slight upgrade from the stock GT intake. Aside from looking better its the same performance wise as bolting on a gt40 intake from an explorer.

It will net you another 7-10 hp maybe, but the biggest thing you will notice is the ability to make power at a higher rpm, its really only noticeable at WOT. Add the gt40/cobra heads and you will get another 20 hp. As far as times, I wouldn't expect much difference from stock.

Really? Wow I thought with a full exhaust, gears, and hopefully intake I'd see some improvement over stock. Too bad I'd been hearing more like 15 HP with the intake. Any other mods I should do first that would be more effective? Aside from boost or nos that is.

Even with a really good exhaust upgrade and the gt40 heads/intake, your only gonna see about 240-245 hp right around where a stock cobra would be. That's only 30 HP more than stock gts of that year.

Heads Cam Intake is about the most you can do with no boost or juice. You can get a pretty mean engine with those 3 things, but remember HP costs money so the more a top end kit produces the more its gonna cost.

Here is a pretty popular top end kit and it will get you into the 340-360 range, but that 360 it is stating is really a generous estimate. More like 320-325 at the wheels would be my guess depending on your transmission.

What kind of HP are you wanting to see and whats your budget?

Well right now I'm a senior in high school so I don't have the money for big all in one purchases like that kit which is why I am doing it piece by piece. Right now I don't have a specific hp in mind I am more trying to get firmly in the low to mid 13's and set up for when I have a bit more money a solid 12 second car. I figured from what I know a intake would be a good first step then the heads but I'm not sure if a cam first might be better? I'm willing to by used parts for pieces that it is okay to do that. Any other intakes I should look at or heads that or on the lower price side or are gt40's really the only lowish cost alternatives?

gt40 set up like that with a decent cam will get you in the 12s so long as your tires will hold the pavement.

The first engine I built for my 94 was a stock 302, GT40X heads, small cam (similar to E303 grind), same tubular intake GT40 intake, full exhaust, BBK shortie headers, it dyno'd 280hp and 315lb ft. at the rear wheels on a mustang dyno. So the engine was probably producing somewhere in the 310-315Hp range at the flywheel. With Drag Radials it ran a 13.0 at 108 at LACR which is at about 2500ft. in elevation in the California desert. Car ran amazing with that set-up. Was a very fun car to drive around, and I could still drive it anywhere reliably. That's what I would shoot for if I were you.
