Task of making a 79 302 fast, how?
A budget build. So I am new to carb cars and pre 86 mustangs. I read the 1979 has 140hp? If accurate numbers I am guessing the car is gonna be a slug. I don't have the car yet but may be getting it this weekend. I plan to order some parts and begin the process.
Is the 140hp for real? That seems low for a V8? I would like to get 350HP atleast going to the flywheel.

cheapest route, buy a roller short block from www.fordstrokers.com stroked 302 to 347 cubic inches, a set of afr 185-205 cc heads or tfs 205 cc heads and a custom cam from www.flowtechinduction.com , ported victor jr and a good carb from pro systems or biggs performance and all your supporting mods said combo will easily put down 375 rwhp if you pay attention to detail

What MJR posted is true however I would make some exceptions.
If you have a place and the equipment to assemble your own stuff, I would look at some of the kits offered by Coast High Performance.
You will need to have a local machine shop who is competent also.
